The Southeast region of Brazil is composed of the states of Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and São Paulo. It is the richest region of the country, responsible for approximately 60% of the Brazilian GDP. The region’s history is marked by the exploration of gold and diamonds during the 18th century, particularly in Minas Gerais. The region also saw significant industrial development in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Southeast region accounts for about 44% of Brazil’s total population, leading the country in population, urban population, population density, vehicles, industries, universities, airports, ports, highways, hospitals, schools, houses, and many other areas.
